Rahul Gandhi was not physically present during negotiations to elect a Presidential candidate, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia admitted today in an interview.
Mr Scindia said," You and I are both aware that he( Rahul ) wasn't there in Delhi but he is very much involved in the dialogue and selection process".
But he also dismissed the suggestion that this amounts to a Leadership failure. Opposition has criticized for a delayed announcement of its candidate, Meera Kumar, three days after the ruling party NDA had announced Ram Nath Kovind as their choice, gaining the upper hand.
"I think in this age of technology, even hi is away, but very much in touch." he said.
"DON't forget that the UPA government was in power for 10 years under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi but it is they who transformed the lives of 65 crore farmers across the country." he said.
