Before Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today, the Janata Dal United (JDU) re-iterated its earlier stand on deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav's resignation controversy.
Nitish's close aide RCP Singh, who's accompanying him, spoke to the media at Patna airport on Saturday morning before leaving for the national capital.
He said the JDU was still waiting for answers from Tejaswi on the corruption charges leveled on him.
It's worth noting that Tejaswi - RJD chief Lalu Prasad's son - had met the Bihar Chief Minister in his office earlier this week and is believed to have given clarifications on the FIR registered against him by the CBI for amassing 'benami' properties in Delhi and Patna.
It was later speculated that the standoff situation between the JDU and the RJD over Tejaswi's resignation ended following the meeting of the two leaders.
However, the JDU has maintained that the meeting of Tejaswi with Nitish has nothing to do with JDU's demand that the deputy CM clarify things in the people's court.
After RCP Singh's stand today, it has now become amply clear that the war between the two alliance partners in Mahagathbandhan hasn't ended. RJD on the other hand has made it clear that Tejaswi won't be resigning at any cost and that the matter has ended after his meeting with Nitish.
"There is no question of Tejaswi resigning. The matter has ended and JDU is unnecessarily raising it", said Abdul Bari Siddiqui, RJD leader and Finance Minister.
The Congress is trying to mediate between the Nitish and Lalu camps to end the deadlock.
