Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared a picture of his two-year-old son Yaani dressed as Lord Krishna on Sunday, thanking his son's school for casting Yaani in the part.
Nawazuddin's tweet arrives almost a year after he was barred from participating in Ram Leela celebrations in his hometown Budhana, Uttar Pradesh, citing his religion.
"I am glad to the school of my kid, who gave him an opportunity to play the character of 'natkhat nandlala'."Last year, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was stopped from performing at Budhana's Ram Leela celebrations minutes before the show, which was later cancelled.
The 43-year-old actor's tweet posted last month, which appeared to be a possible response to his casting director Sanjay Chauhan. In an interview, Mr Chauhan told Deccan Chronicle that 'fair and handsome' actors can't be appropriately cast alongside the Gangs Of Wasseypur actor.
Earlier this year, Nawazuddin Siddiqui starred in a video, in which he highlighted the importance of religious tolerance. In the video, Nawazuddin holds up placards in the controversial fashion of Delhi student Gurmehar Kaur and describes himself as '16.66% Muslim,' '16.66% Hindu,' 16.66% Christian,' '16.66% Sikh,' '16.66% Buddhist' and '16.66% other religions' - which measure up to '100% artist.'
