Vikram Goud, the son of a former Andhra Pradesh minister in hospital after being shot last week in Hyderabad, staged the shootout, suspect police officers investigating the case.
Vikram Goud is a youth Congress leader and his father Mukesh Goud was a minister in the government of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Vikram was shot at around 3.30 am on Friday at his home in the upscale Banjara Hills.
He was shot thrice, according to the police. He is at the Apollo hospital, where his father and his wife Shefali visited him on his birthday today.
The police say four people have been arrested, including two from Karnataka. They have alleged that they were hired by Vikram to fire at him. The reason is not clear yet.
Another theory is that he runs some pubs and was worried that excise officials would call him in for questioning in a drug case.
"Suddenly, his wife heard gunshots and found him lying on the floor," said A Venkateshwar Rao, a senior police officer.
