Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav has finally broken his silence on party chief Nitish Kumar joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar and called it "unfortunate".
"I don't agree with the decision in Bihar, it is unfortunate," said Sharad Yadav, adding that people of Bihar did not give the mandate for this. "11 crore people had given the mandate for mahagatbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar, it is unfortunate the alliance broke," Sharad Yadav said.
Sharad Yadav, however, has been meeting senior leaders from Opposition parties, including Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and CPI leader D Raja. D Raja, who met Sharad Yadav last night, said that the senior JD(U) leader does not approve of Nitish Kumar's move to form government with the BJP.
Earlier, at a meeting at his residence with some JD(U) leaders last week, Sharad Yadav is reported to have told them that it was Nitish Kumar's "personal decision" to walk out of the Grand Alliance and join hands with the BJP.
While Sharad Yadav did not comment on the JD(U)-BJP alliance in public, he has been attacking the BJP government at the Centre on Twitter since the past few days.
